As you can probably tell, Summer has arrived, and it is getting pretty hot out there. If you are like us, your lawn’s appearance is very important. We have seen a fairly normal pattern of rainfall this Spring and lawns are looking pretty good.
As they say, if you don’t like the weather in some cities, just wait a day and it will change. These new higher temperatures combined with drier than normal forecasts will start to affect our lawns’ appearance soon if we do not have a watering plan in place.
Here are a few tips to make sure you are ready:
- Keep a few extra parts on hand so you can make any minor repairs that may be needed.
- Be sure to check your local watering days and restrictions.
- Water deep and infrequently to encourage a deeper root structure.
- If possible, water in the morning hours to reduce evaporation and disease formation.
- Make sure your system is not watering non target areas such as driveways and sidewalks.
- Hand water hot spots to avoid costly damage and reduce insect activity.
We hope this information will help you stay ahead of turf issues caused the some cities’ heat. Keep cool and remember to wear your sunscreen!
